Land Rover purchase GUIDE

Two options for investing in a land rover

At Phoenix Restorations, we know importing a classic Defender can feel complex. That’s why we offer two clear buying options so you can choose what works best for you.

OPtion 1 : You handle the import

We ship from Turkey, and you take care of U.S. import.

This is ideal for experienced buyers or those working with a trusted import professional. Once the vehicle ships from Istanbul, you manage the U.S. import process—with our support as needed.

We can connect you with vetted U.S. customs brokers who can handle everything for you, including filing the necessary DOT and EPA forms.

✅ Pros:

  • Lower vehicle price (save 15–20%)
  • Simplified export process
  • Expert import support available

❌ Cons:

  • Slightly more hands-on
  • Customs clearance may take 1–2 weeks
  • You must manage DOT/EPA paperwork or hire someone to do it

Best for: Buyers looking to save and comfortable managing the import process.

option 2: we import and sell from the u.s.

We handle everything and sell the car ready-to-drive from Miami.

We manage the full import process, title the vehicle in Florida under our U.S. company, and sell it fully compliant and registered. Just sign and drive.

✅ Pros:

  • Hassle-free experience
  • Florida title + U.S. registration
  • Maximum buyer confidence
  • No paperwork on your end

❌ Cons:

  • Higher price due to taxes, fees, and compliance work
  • Vehicle must clear U.S. customs before it’s listed

Best for: Buyers who want a worry-free, fully U.S.-titled Defender.

**August 2025 Update

Due to recent presidential and administrative decisions, importing vehicles into the U.S. is now subject to higher costs and stricter regulations. As of 2025, a baseline 10% universal tariff applies to all imports, with EU vehicles now facing combined rates up to 25%, and some Middle Eastern countries seeing tariffs as high as 30–41%. These increases come on top of existing import fees and taxes, pushing overall costs higher.

Heightened inspection requirements at U.S. ports are also creating longer wait times, which in turn raise port storage fees. Because of these changes, a revised version of our import cost document will be supplied once we have updated estimates based on the new regulations and market conditions.
