Three Ways to Get a Custom Land Rover Defender Built for You

Defender 90 V8 on the road

When people reach out to us, most of them assume there’s one way to get a Phoenix build: send us your car, we restore it, you get it back. That’s true, but it’s only a third of the picture. There are three real paths to owning a Phoenix build, and which one makes sense depends entirely on what you already have and what you actually want.

Restoring the car you already own

This is the most straightforward path, and the one most people picture first. You have a Series or a Defender, it needs real work, and you want it brought back properly rather than patched up. We strip it down, assess what’s actually there, and rebuild it to the standard it deserves.

This path only works when the car is already near our workshop or can reasonably get there, so it’s mainly a fit for clients in Türkiye. If that’s not your situation, the next two paths matter more.

Building a custom project from your brief

If you don’t have a car to start from, or you want something your current one can’t become, this is the path. You bring us a brief: the model, the spec, how you intend to drive it, what era it should feel like. We build it from there, funded by your deposit, with the build itself happening at our workshop.

This is the path for someone who knows roughly what they want but doesn’t want to go hunting for a donor vehicle and managing a restoration from a distance. We handle the sourcing and the build, you get a say in every real decision along the way.

Buying a finished build from inventory

The third path skips the waiting entirely. We build vehicles to our own spec, hold them, and sell them once they’re finished. If you want something sooner rather than later, and you’re comfortable trusting our judgment on the spec rather than dictating every detail yourself, this is the fastest route to actually owning a restored Defender or Series.

We keep a small number of these at any given time. If you want to see what’s currently finished or close to it, our build pages are the place to look.

Why we think about it this way

None of these paths is the “real” one and the others a fallback. They solve different problems. Someone with a car worth saving shouldn’t be talked into starting from scratch. Someone with a clear vision and no donor vehicle shouldn’t be stuck waiting for one to turn up. And someone who just wants the car, finished, shouldn’t have to sit through a year of build updates if they don’t want to.

What stays constant across all three is the standard of work. The path changes how you arrive at a Phoenix build, not what you get once you’re in one.

Not sure which path fits your situation? Get in touch and tell us what you’re starting with, we’ll tell you honestly which route makes the most sense.
